Eagle Mountain

Friday night, we took a spontaneous drive to one of our favorite roads: Eagle Mountain. We named it many years ago because there were so many eagles soaring over the mountain. It’s a drive on the mountain where you can have a bird’s eye view of the city and the best spot to see the sunset.

For the same reason, we hopped on this road again after many years. It’s around 7, still a little early for the sunset, but late enough for creatures coming out for the night. We saw a coyote, fluffy, up in the yellow grass field. Deer jumping over the fence to cross the road in front of us.

As the sun was getting lower, more cars coming up for the sunset. It’s such a romantic place for a Friday night, no wonder it’s so popular.

On the way downhill, I was thinking, it’s Eagle Mountain to us, might be sunset mountain for someone else, it’s very personal, between us and the mountain. Like the song said, ” The mountains don’t forget the names we give them, they hold our footprints deep in clay and stone.”

The drive brought back so many memories encountered on this road. Eagle Mountain has been saving all these memories for us until we are back. So true, mountains don’t forget.
