I saw a full grown rattle snake today on the mountain. It’s putting on a full show for me, at least 2 feet long. He paused first, probably sensed me there, until he felt I’m no danger to him, and started moving again. He literally blocked the whole trail in front of me. Until his tail showed up, there’s distinctive rattler pointing straight up. I was able to get a real clear shot of him: his middle section seems obviously bulging and thicker, probably just finished his meal. I felt he seems moving rather slower than normal. Once he crossed the trail, he turned down towards me. Oh, no! He’s heading towards me! Wrong way! Where do I go? The trail is so narrow, there’s no way I can pass his reach. The only way is to turn around and go back, which will take me a long time… Fortunately he probably heard my inner voice, climbed up the mountain, and out off my sight. Whew! What an encounter!
Things always happen at the least expected time.
