Today is Winter Solstice, the shortest daytime, the longest night. Are you ready for the gift of the year?
Chanting to the rising sun; cherish every beam of sunshine. At the same time be patient to wait for the sunrise, be confident to your own strength to survive the darkness and smart to fully prepare yourself during the wait.
It’s a conclusion of the year, to celebrate a completion of Nature’s cycle. In ancient China, emperors would hold a national ceremony on this day to show the appreciation of blessing and respect of the power of nature. From the day of Winter Solstice, start counting, every 9 days there will be some changes in nature, until 10 cycles are complete, totally 90 days past Winter Solstice, marks the beginning of the Spring.
To me this is a special day. It’s time to reflect how I was doing at the end of this cycle, physically and emotionally. It’s time to pause and catch up with myself, redefine my path, am I still on the right track? Am I getting stronger for winter’s coming? Am I getting my load light enough to hit the road again? It’s a ritual to re-align myself with nature, mother earth, through time and space.
Happy Winter Solstice!
