Moonlight Yoga

Moon Rising over the Mountain

The moonlight has magic, so mesmerizing, makes the yard so intimate. I had an urge to do a yoga flow under the moonlight.

When I started the flow, my moves seem ignited by the pure moonlight. The moon is so bright, almost like daylight, washing out all the darkness. The shadows are so sharp; the edge is so clean, even more distinctive than daylight.

No one’s watching but the moon. That’s my biggest and only audience. I’m free to move between the moon and the ground. Yoga and nature connect so intimately, as if meant to be, like tree branches moving with the breeze, so natural and reflexive. I’m inspired by the moon, especially when I’m in twist lunge prayer; my gaze follows my elbow above and beyond. I can feel the caressing of moonlight on my face, so gentle like silk, makes me want to twist deeper to get closer to the moon. The moon must be touched by me, putting a glow on my face so generously, like bathing me with her blessing.

I like to mind travel under such beautiful moonlight: What is like at Indian Grinding Rock State Park under such moonlight? Are there any happy squirrels finding acorns or burying food for later? What it’s like in Pinnacles National Park now? Are there a lot tarantulas walking to find their mate under the moon? What about Columbia in Sierras? Old Town will be turning into a fairyland under such beautiful moon light.

Time to sleep, to catch up with all my mind travels in my dreams; under the soft moonlight, in no time I drift into slumber.
