Dragonflies carry a significant meaning for me. When I was a kid, I could easily spent an afternoon chasing dragonflies and catching them by hand. Whenever I found one perching on a branch or flower, I would sneak behind, walk as quiet as I could, even hold my breath, in case they will feel my breathing. Then I would position myself catch them by wings. I don’t keep them, just reward myself for mission accomplished, then release them. At that time, I could see dragonflies everywhere.
That was a main pastime of my summer. At that time, summer seemed endless, equals to freedom, no school, no homework, I can spend as much time as I want, catch as many dragonflies as I can. No time limits, until it’s too dark and I can’t see.
That honed my special lens towards dragonflies, especially their wings, shining under the sun, glittering with gold, which revealed their resting spot.
For long time I haven’t seen their wings glitter with gold like this, maybe I was in too much of a hurry, maybe I was not as quiet as I was as a kid anymore.
