It is one of my favorite Chinese songs, “Dear Little Child”. I translated the lyrics as best I can.
“Dear little child, did you cry today? Did your friends all go and leave you to your lonely little self?
Dear little child, did you cry today? Did you dirty your clothes but couldn’t find anyone to tell?
Dear little child, did you cry today? Did you lose your precious gift? And looking for it from dusk till dawn?
Dear little child, why don’t you let me see if the wind has blown out your candle and left you walking in the darkness alone?
Wipe your tears, dear little child, let me accompany you home.”
When I first heard that song, I was a child, thinking the song was about me and my story. Now while listening to this song, it’s still about me and my story.
That child never left, only the mirror changed.
